One step from the disaster

Archiviato in: Work, humor — Luca Sartoni @ 2:50 am

Today i was teaching technology to a class from 11 years old to 14 years old children.
At a certain point i was really near to the disaster. I was making them to think about the way they could use to decide if a source of information is trustworthy or not.

The discussion was like:

Me: how can you decide if the TV is right or wrong?
Them: we can check on the Internet.
Me: and how can you decide if that specific website is right or wrong?
Them: We check on another website.
Me: and how can you decide if the other website is right or wrong?
Them: We will check on a book.
Me: And how can you decide if the book is right or wrong?
Them: We ask our parents.

At this specific time i really risked to make a terrible mistake, destroying their parents’ perfection. Just a second before saying the terrible sentence i figured out their parents killing myself on a giant campfire.

Me: Right! Ask your parents! … Lets talk about something else…

3 important reasons to love William Shatner

Archiviato in: Geek, WoW, blog, humor — Luca Sartoni @ 6:32 pm

This is not a necroblog, si i decided to talk about my favourite actor before it’s too late.

I won’t tell you about his bio or his career because you can find them somewhere else.
I only say: “My name is Danny Crane”.

First reason to love him is this great performance with Joe Jackson on a Pulp’s cover.

The second reason to adore him is this great scene from Star Trek. Maybe is the worst fight scene that a camera has made immortal.

But the third reason is this wonderful commercial he was in. Really great.

The biggest threat on the net

Archiviato in: Geek, humor — Luca Sartoni @ 2:11 am

I read thousands of articles about internet related threats. It didn’t matter if they were written by goofy journalists of by hi ranked IT writers, they were unfulfilling. They were about secondary threats like viruses, worms, identity thefts, and so on. No one has never written about the biggest threat on the net: writing in the wrong window

Writing in the wrong window is the most frustrating thing that can happen to a digital citizen. Every user experience can be corrupted by this danger.

I experienced this problem several times and the results were very bad. I sent to to hell the wrong friend on msn, and i made quests to be failed on World of Warcraft, only because the guy was offended to be called “scary ass”. And everything happened because i wrong typed and i used the public chat instead the private one.

I really believe that writing in the wrong window is the biggest threat on the net for us, long time chatters.

If you don’t believe in me,take a look here.
